Second Stage Round 9: Neptunas-Akv. - Stekas 90-89

Bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. managed to get a seventh victory on Thursday night. This time they edged eighth-ranked Stekas in Klaipeda 90-89. Neptunas-Akv. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Stekas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Gabrielius Mazeika (206-2003, agency: BIG) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Kristupas Keinys (202-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Tadas Rinkunas (195-1991) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas-Akv. maintains fourteenth place with 7-27 record. Newly promoted Stekas keeps the eighth position with 19 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stekas will play at home against Palanga (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
