Regular Season Round 21: SumDU - MBC-Niko 2 82-80

A very close game took place in Sumy between SumDU and MBC-Niko 2. Second ranked SumDU (11-4) got a very close home victory over 4th placed MBC-Niko 2 (8-7). SumDU managed to escape with a 2-point win 82-80 on Sunday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But MBC-Niko 2 won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SumDU forced 22 MBC-Niko 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Igor Starodub (182-1997) who scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Maxim Mikhailov (198-2003) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for SumDU. They maintain second place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Krivbas 2. Loser MBC-Niko 2 keeps the fourth position with seven games lost.
