Second Stage Round 4: Gheorgheni - Bucuresti E. 79-58

Gheorgheni's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Bucuresti E. (1-3) 79-58 on Sunday. Gheorgheni dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Bucuresti E.'s 28. Gheorgheni forced 23 Bucuresti E. turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Tamas Bodo who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gheorgheni players scored in double figures. Gheorgheni's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by Tudor Stoica did not help to save the game for Bucuresti E.. Victor Vilcinschi (-2000) added 13 points for lost side. Gheorgheni (1-1) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place. Loser Bucuresti E. dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Politehnica Iasi. Gheorgheni will meet higher ranked Ploiesti CSU (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bucuresti E. will play against Oradea 2 (#10) and hope to win that game.
