Regular Season Round 13: Dnipro - Rivne 49-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Dnipro. Third ranked Rivne faced their biggest opponent Dnipro. Guests from Rivne (10-6) smashed host Dnipro (5-8) 79-49. The game without a history. Rivne led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Dnipro to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Rivne forced 19 Dnipro turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Liudmyla Spyrydonova (180-1984) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Vladyslava Kiba (177-2002, agency: BIG) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side guard Kseniya Afanasyeva (170-1993) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Olena Khoroshykh (-2002) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivne have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-6 record having eight points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Dnipro lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the second position with eight games lost. Rivne will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dnipro will play again against Rivne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
