Regular Season Round 17: SKM I - VKM 80-78

The most exciting game of round 17 in the D7 took place in Vilniaus. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked VKM (11-5) to third ranked SKM I (12-4) 80-78 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But VKM won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when SKM I won last quarter 24-23. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Nojus Kuliesa (185) stepped up and scored 31 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Ernestas Matulevic (200-2005) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four SKM I players scored in double figures. Point guard Titas Pundinas (175-2005) responded with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Erikas Vansevicius (188-2005) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SKM I moved-up to second place. VKM at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Saule. SKM I are looking forward to face Perkunas (#9) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. VKM will play on the road against Tornado KM (#6) in Kaunas and is hoping to win this game.
