Second Stage Round 11: Zalgiris II - Vytis 63-72

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Zalgiris II (25-11) against fifth ranked Vytis (21-16) on Tuesday night. Host Zalgiris II was defeated by Vytis in a tough game in Kaunas 63-72. Vytis forced 21 Zalgiris II turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Vytis 45-27 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-2001) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Center Motiejus Krivas (214-2004) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and Dovydas Butka (202-2003) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Zalgiris II in the defeat. Zalgiris II's coach Vytautas Pliauga tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vytis maintains fifth place with 21-16 record. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Vytis will play against league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris II will play on the road against Silute and hopes to get back on the winning track.
