Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Saule (11-5) outscored on the road 11th ranked Marijampoles (2-12) 94-73 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Saule. Marijampoles managed to win fourth quarter 29-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saule dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Marijampoles' 30. Saule forced 20 Marijampoles turnovers and outrebounded them 56-28 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Joris Kacinskas (-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Deividas Zukauskas (162-2005) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Four Saule players scored in double figures. Point guard Augustas Merkys (194-2005) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and Armandas Jarasius (-2005) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Saule moved-up to third place, which they share with VKM. Marijampoles lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Saule will meet at home Plunges (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Marijampoles will play against Birzu in Birzai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
