An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Haskovo. First ranked Haskovo faced 4th placed Akademik PL 2. Host Haskovo (16-2) smashed guests from Plovdiv (11-6) 112-90. Haskovo looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Guard Dinko Hristov (185-2001) stepped up and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Ivaylo Tonev (198-1999) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was naturalized Greek point guard Ioannis Kikrilis (184-2004) with 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Krastomir Mihov (194-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Haskovo. Newly promoted Haskovo maintains first place with 16-2 record. Akademik PL 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Fab Five BUBA. Haskovo will meet 3.6.9. BC (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Akademik PL 2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Plovdiv Mambas.
