Liga Nationala top team - Sf.Gheorghe (18-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Alexandria (3-14) 97-49. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alexandria to just 7 points in third quarter. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Alexandria's 24. Sf.Gheorghe forced 21 Alexandria turnovers and outrebounded them 45-24 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sf.Gheorghe players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Alexandria's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American center Khadijiah Cave (190-1995, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and Bulgarian forward Borislava Hristova (182-1996, college: WSU) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. Sf.Gheorghe's coach Zoran Mikes felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Sara Hamson (201, college: BYU, agency: LBM Management) responded with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and Bulgarian forward Anna-Mariya Kolyandrova (165-1997) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Sf.Gheorghe have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-0 record. Alexandria at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Agronomia. Sf.Gheorghe will play against Targu Mures (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alexandria will play against Brasov and hopes to get back on the winning track.
