Very expected game when 14th ranked Science City Jena (9-16) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Uni Baskets (13-12) 89-83 on Sunday. Uni Baskets shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard George Brock (183-1995, college: SUNO) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Buzz Anthony (180-1998, college: RMC) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Brock is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Uni Baskets players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Seth Allen (185-1994, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and Brandon Thomas (198-1984, college: UMass, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Uni Baskets. They moved-up to eighth place. Loser Science City Jena keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Muenster. Uni Baskets will meet at home Kirchheim Knights (#11) in the next round.
