There was a small surprise in Karlsruhe where sixth ranked Lions (14-11) outleveled 4th placed Phoenix Hagen (15-10) 108-87 on Sunday. Lions made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Croatian power forward Darko Bajo (205-1999, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (190-1999) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and Kristofer Krause (190-2000) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lions maintains sixth place with 14-11 record, which they share with Giessen. Loser Phoenix Hagen keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Dresden. Lions will meet at home league's leader Rasta Vechta in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Phoenix Hagen will play against Titans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
