There was an upset when higher ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (12-13) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked SparkassenStars (11-14) 94-86 on Sunday. Center Tom Alte (207-1995) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American guard TJ Crockett (185-1999, college: Lindenwood) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Five SparkassenStars players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Khalid Thomas (208, college: Portland St.) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Lennard Larysz (194-1997) scored 9 points and 10 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. SparkassenStars moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Nuernberg. Loser Eisbaeren Bremerhaven dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Trier and Kirchheim. SparkassenStars will meet at home league's second-placed Tigers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against Schwenningen (#18) and hope to secure a win.
