Regular Season Round 18: Perkunas - SKM I 114-125

No shocking result in a game in Kaunas where second ranked SKM I (13-4) defeated 9th ranked Perkunas (4-14) 125-114 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by SKM I. Perkunas managed to win fourth quarter 40-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SKM I forced 19 Perkunas turnovers and outrebounded them 44-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Perkunas' players. Forward Ernestas Matulevic (200-2005) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nojus Kuliesa (185) chipped in 17 points and 16 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Martynas Mejaras (-2005) with 30 points and 4 steals and Justas Stasaitis (-2005) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four SKM I and five Perkunas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SKM I have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-4 record having just thirty point less than leader VKKM. Perkunas lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 14 games lost. SKM I will meet at home Zalgiris II (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Perkunas will play against VKM in Vilniaus and hope to secure a win.
