Very expected game when 7th ranked Cluj Napoca (7-11) was crushed on the road by third ranked Constanta (14-4) 92-49 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Constanta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cluj Napoca's 30. Constanta forced 22 Cluj Napoca turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cluj Napoca's players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Rebecca Tobin (195-1988, college: Arizona St.) who scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Dora Ardelean (186-1994) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Constanta players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tanesha Sutton (178-1995, college: Maine) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Ukrainian center Yvheniia Putra (191-2004) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Constanta. They maintain third place with 14-4 record having six points less than leader Sf.Gheorghe. Cluj Napoca at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Constanta will meet bottom-ranked Targoviste (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cluj Napoca will play against Rapid (#4) and hope to secure a win.
