We should mention about the upset which took place in Heidelberg, where higher ranked BG Goettingen (12-8) lost to fifteenth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (8-15) in a road game 74-84 on Friday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BG Goettingen. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Eric Washington (183-1993, college: Miami, OH) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import center Bryan Griffin (203-1998, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American Javon Bess (198-1996, college: St.Louis) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Hamburg. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet Braunschweig (#16) on the road in the next round. BG Goettingen will play against the league's second-placed Telekom Baskets (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
