Rm Valcea II (5-1) recorded its first loss in Brasov on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by top-ranked Phoenix Corona (2-0) 93-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Rm Valcea II. The game without a history. Phoenix Corona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Rm Valcea II's 30. Phoenix Corona forced 19 Rm Valcea II turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Andrei Oinaru (203-2005) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard David Neacsu (188-2003) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Four Phoenix Corona players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Ajay Singh (199, college: Westmont, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Lamar Hamrick (193-1998, college: Portland St., agency: Haylett Sports) added 18 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Phoenix Corona went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Rm Valcea II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second place with one game lost. Phoenix Corona will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rm Valcea II will play at home against Craiova 2 where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
