Regular Season Round 16: Veneto-Cherkasy - Blyskavky 78-86

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cherkasy. Fourth ranked Blyskavky faced their close opponent Veneto-Cherkasy. Guests from Vinnytsia (11-6) defeated host Veneto-Cherkasy (3-9) 86-78. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-21. But Veneto-Cherkasy won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Larysa Stadnik (185-1992, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Victoria Ogiy (170-1995) who added 15 points, 9 assists and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side center Maria Pugach (181-2006) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and forward Anastasia Kostoglod (174-2005) scored 27 points and 4 assists. Five Blyskavky and four Veneto-Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Blyskavky have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Veneto-Cherkasy lost third consecutive game. Veneto-Cherkasy at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Blyskavky will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Veneto-Cherkasy will play against Rivne (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
