Everything went according to plan in Rostock where twelfth ranked Seawolves (10-12) won against 15th ranked Hakro Merlins (7-14) 86-79 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American point guard JeQuan Lewis (185-1994, college: VCU, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Selom Mawugbe (208-1998, college: Azusa Pacific) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American Myles Stephens (196-1997, college: Princeton) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Maurice Stuckey (187-1990) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Seawolves moved-up to eleventh place. Hakro Merlins lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Seawolves will meet higher ranked Brose Bamberg (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hakro Merlins will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#7) and hope to secure a win.
