Regular Season Round 19: SKM I - Zalgiris II 73-63

No shocking result in a game when second ranked SKM I (14-4) beat 8th ranked Zalgiris II (9-10) in Vilniaus 73-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by SKM I. Zalgiris II managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SKM I forced 25 Zalgiris II turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded SKM I 44-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nojus Kuliesa (185) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Ernestas Matulevic (200-2005) accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Center Aleksas Bieliauskas (206-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Augustas Navickas (190-2005) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Zalgiris II in the defeat. Zalgiris II's coach Arunas Visockas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for SKM I. They maintain second place with 14-4 record having just 32 point less than leader VKKM. Zalgiris II lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. SKM I's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilniaus to the arena VKKM.
