Regular Season Round 19: Zalgiris - Saule 110-89

The game in Kaunas supposed to be also worth to mention about. 4th placed Saule (12-6) played at the court of fifth ranked Zalgiris (13-6). Zalgiris smashed Saule 110-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Saule. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Saule's 30 and made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Zalgiris forced 21 Saule turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Saule was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Kristupas Kepezinskas (177-2005) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Center Mantas Kocanas (207-2005) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Auridas Urbonas (-2005) responded with 21 points and 8 assists and point guard Deividas Zukauskas (162-2005) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Five Zalgiris and four Saule players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Saule at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Zalgiris will play against Birzu (#11) in Birzai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saule will play at home against Panevezio (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
