Regular Season Round 21: Kedainiu - Alytaus 52-93

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Alytaus (17-3) smashed on the road 8th ranked Kedainiu (8-11) 93-52 on Thursday. Alytaus dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kedainiu's 30. Alytaus forced 28 Kedainiu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Kedainiu's players. Guard Rita Zilinskaite (175-1992) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 steals for the winners and the former international point guard Milda Sauliute (175-1981) chipped in 13 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Four Alytaus players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Agne Antanaviciute (186-1994) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Loreta Sulimaite (172-1998) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Kedainiu's coach Gerda Ceckauskiene already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for Alytaus. They maintain second place with 17-3 record having just one point less than leader Kibirkstis-MRU. Newly promoted Kedainiu keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Alytaus will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kedainiu will play against the league's leader Kibirkstis-VKM (#1) in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
