There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Domzale (0-8) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Maribor (3-3) 73-61 on Thursday. Maribor made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maribor made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for center Spela Brecelj (185-2005) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Merisa Dautovic (186-1999) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Maribor players scored in double figures. At the losing side Yeisy Perez (172-2002) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and center Dora Mlakar (182-1996) scored 5 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maribor maintains fourth place with 3-3 record. Domzale lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Maribor will meet higher ranked Jezica (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Domzale will have a break next round.
