The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Benfica (20-5) in Oliveira on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Oliveirense (15-10) 70-68. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Malcolm Richardson (185-1994, college: Florida St. Jkv) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Power forward Julien Ducree (206-1996, college: Utah Tech) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Point guard Toney Douglas (189-1986, college: FSU) answered with 21 points and guard Aaron Broussard (196-1990, college: Seattle) added 18 points in the effort for Benfica. Oliveirense are looking forward to face Sporting in Lisbon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
