Regular Season Round 23: Vechta 2 - Rist Wedel 74-86

There was an upset when 4th placed Vechta-2 (12-8) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Rist Wedel (7-14) 86-74 on Saturday. Rist Wedel dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Vechta-2's 40. Rist Wedel forced 19 Vechta-2 turnovers. It was a great evening for American point guard Harrison Cleary (185-1997, college: UMC) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Czech Michal Kozak (203-1998, college: Weber St.) helped adding 22 points and 5 assists. Leon Okpara (192-1998) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American guard JJ Culver (193-1997, college: WBU) scored 16 points. Five Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rist Wedel moved-up to tenth place, which they share with OrangeAcad. and SC Wizards. Newly promoted Vechta-2 dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Rist Wedel will meet at home Giessen Pointers (#13) in the next round. Vechta-2 will play against the league's second-placed Sixers (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
