A very close game took place in Kirchheim between Phoenix Hagen and Kirchheim Knights. Sixth ranked Phoenix Hagen (16-11) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Kirchheim Knights (12-15). Phoenix Hagen managed to escape with a 2-point win 64-62 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was American JJ Mann (198-1991, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) who scored 16 points. Center Marcel Kessen (207-1997) chipped in 6 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Tyrone Nash (203-1988, college: Notre Dame) who recorded 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Chilean center Aitor Pickett (203-1999) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Giessen and Karlsruhe PS. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the eleventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Bochum. Phoenix Hagen will meet at home Gladiators (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kirchheim Knights will play against Lions in Karlsruhe and hope to secure a win.
