Second Stage Round 3: Sangalhos - CAB Madeira 69-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with CAB Madeira's (8-17) road victory over Sangalhos (1-24) 73-69 on Saturday. CAB Madeira forced 22 Sangalhos turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Michael Almonacy (183-1997, college: App State) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jett Speelman (201-1994, college: Denison) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Angolan point guard Cleuzio Castro (180-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Joao Martinho (188-1997) added 14 points and 8 assists respectively for Sangalhos in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. CAB Madeira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sangalhos will play against Vitoria SC (#9) in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
