There was an upset when 3rd placed Vasco (3-2) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Queluz (1-4) 86-80 on Sunday. Queluz looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Drew Buggs (190-1997, college: Winthrop) who had a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-1987) chipped in 30 points and 8 rebounds. Queluz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Joao Torrie (200-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and American center Jaja Davis (196, college: Montreat) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Vasco players scored in double figures. Queluz left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Vasco keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Illiabum. Queluz will meet higher ranked Galitos (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vasco will play against Galitos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
