LKL top team - Zalgiris (19-4) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Neptunas (10-13) in Klaipeda 91-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Neptunas. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Latvian Rolands Smits (207-1995) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. The former international point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-1994) chipped in 18 points. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. American center Austin Wiley (211-1999, college: Auburn) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-1989) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris maintains first place with 19-4 record. Loser Neptunas keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Siauliai and Nevezis. Zalgiris will meet at home Gargzdu (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Neptunas will play against Jonava (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
