Regular Season Round 20: VKKM - SKM I 99-85

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Vilniaus: VKKM (#1) and SKM I (#2). VKKM (16-4) won against visiting SKM I (14-5) 99-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of SKM I. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-85. VKKM shot 28 for 39 from the free-throw line, while SKM I only scored nine points from the stripe. 30 personal fouls committed by SKM I helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Justas Ziubrys (183-2005) who helped to win the game recording 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Kristupas Lesciauskas (190-2005) who added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. VKKM's coach Virgilijus Zakrys used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Nojus Kuliesa (185) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Ernestas Matulevic (200-2005) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five VKKM and four SKM I players scored in double figures. VKKM maintains first position with 16-4 record. SKM I at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. They share the position with VKM. VKKM's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilniaus to the arena VKM.
