The game in Kaunas was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked VKM (14-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Zalgiris II (10-11). VKM managed to secure a 8-point victory 83-75. It looked good early as Zalgiris II took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then VKM had a 24-15 second period charge getting the lead and Zalgiris II was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-83. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded VKM 43-30 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Erikas Vansevicius (188-2005) who scored that evening 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Titas Pundinas (175-2005) supported him with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds by forward Augustas Navickas (190-2005) did not help to save the game for Zalgiris II. Center Aleksas Bieliauskas (206-2005) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKM have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with SKM I. Zalgiris II lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. VKM's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilniaus VKKM.
