Second Stage Round 6: Rapid - Voluntari 86-90

The most important game in the last round took place in Bucuresti between third ranked Rapid (9-5) and fifth ranked Voluntari (7-7) on Tuesday night. Rapid was defeated by Voluntari in a tough game at home 86-90. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 50-44 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Maurice Watson (178-1993, college: Creighton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Forward Rasheed Moore (198-1995, college: ESU) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Voluntari's coach Ainars Bagatskis used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Jay Threatt (180-1989, college: Delaware St.) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and Demitrius Conger (196-1990, college: St.Bonaventure) added 20 points in the effort for Rapid. Four Voluntari and five Rapid players scored in double figures. Voluntari have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Rapid at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Voluntari are looking forward to face Sibiu (#6) at home in the next round. Rapid will play against the league's leader Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
