No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Craiova (6-8) beat at home 9th ranked Constanta (3-11) 89-79 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 23-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Craiova made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Finnish Topias Palmi (196-1994, agency: Blacktop Management) notched 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Serbian center Dimitrije Nikolic (212-1997) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Craiova players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) by Lithuanian center Egidijus Mockevicius (208-1992, college: Evansville) did not help to save the game for Constanta. Slovenian swingman Jakob Cebasek (200-1991) added 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Constanta's coach Alexandru Olteanu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Craiova moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sibiu. Constanta lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Craiova will meet Dinamo B. (#7) in the next round. Constanta will play against Pitesti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
