Regular Season Round 19: Pereyaslav - Frankivsk 24-118

Superleague top team - Frankivsk (22-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Pereyaslav (2-14) in Khmelnytskyi 118-24. The game without a history. Frankivsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pereyaslav to just 2 points in second and third quarters and to 10 points in second half. Frankivsk held Pereyaslav to an opponent 17.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Frankivsk forced 44 Pereyaslav turnovers and outrebounded them 66-31 including a 31-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 43 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Pereyaslav's players. Frankivsk brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a quality performance for forward Bohdana Lapkhan (173-2004) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 steals (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Forward Angelica Lyashko (175-2000, agency: BIG) accounted for 16 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Four Frankivsk players scored in double figures. Frankivsk's coach Yuriy Protsuk felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Anna Yarosh (180-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Oleksandra Gerasymenko (178-2007) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Pereyaslav in the defeat. The victory was the twenty first consecutive win for Frankivsk. They maintain first place with 22-0 record. Pereyaslav lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Frankivsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pereyaslav will play at home against KIVS SBK (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
