There was no surprise in Rovinari where 16th ranked Targu Jiu (3-9) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Steaua B. (9-3) 80-75 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-11. But Targu Jiu won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian guard Branislav Vujadinovic (196-1997, college: Assumption) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward James Farr (208-1992, college: Xavier) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Four Steaua B. players scored in double figures. Canadian Shamiel Stevenson (198-1998, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) produced 29 points and 8 rebounds and American Anthony Durham (190-1996, college: Rider) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Targu Jiu's coach Claudiu Alionescu tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Steaua B. moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Targu Mures and Galati. Loser Targu Jiu keeps the sixteenth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
