Very expected game in Karlsruhe where 11th ranked Kirchheim Knights (12-16) were defeated by fifth ranked Lions (17-11) 85-78 on Saturday. Lions made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game, while Kirchheim Knights only scored twelve points from the stripe. Worth to mention a great performance of center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and naturalized Ivorian guard Bazoumana Kone (190-1993, college: Bremerhaven) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. Four Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Michael Flowers (185-1999, college: WSU) responded with 27 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import center Tyrone Nash (203-1988, college: Notre Dame) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lions have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dresden. Kirchheim Knights lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Nuernberg. Lions will meet Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#8) on the road in the next round. Kirchheim Knights will play against Artland Dragons (#3) and hope to secure a win.
