Regular Season Round 20: Sumy - Rivne 36-111

An interesting game for Rivne (14-5) which played road game in Sumy against their close opponent Sumy (6-10). Third ranked Rivne had an easy win 111-36. The game without a history. Rivne led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sumy to just 7 points in first and second quarters and to 14 points in first half. Rivne held Sumy to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 58.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Rivne forced 24 Sumy turnovers and outrebounded them 49-22 including a 35-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Rivne especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Sumy's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Vladyslava Kiba (177-2002, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Yevheniya Bezkorovayna (185-2005) who added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Rivne players scored in double figures. Guard Khrystyna Yarych (174-2000) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Valentina Onishchenko (172-1996) scored 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivne have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-5 record having eleven points less than leader Kyiv Basket which they share with defeated Sumy. Sumy lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the third place with ten games lost. Rivne will play against league's leader Kyiv Basket at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sumy will play against KIVS SBK and hopes to get back on the winning track.
