Regular Season Round 20: Interkhim - Blyskavky 88-69

Rather expected game when 4th ranked Blyskavky (12-8) was smashed by second ranked Interkhim (15-2) in Odessa 88-69 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Interkhim's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-14 extending their advantage to 19 points. Interkhim outrebounded Blyskavky 52-24 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Nika Korinna (174-1996) who scored that evening 20 points and 4 steals and the former international guard Olena Samburska (174-1989) supported her with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. Interkhim's coach Iryna Shchipakina used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 28 points by forward Violetta Ostapchuk (170-2005) did not help to save the game for Blyskavky. Larysa Stadnik (185-1992, agency: BIG) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Interkhim have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-2 record having twelve points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Newly promoted Blyskavky keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Interkhim will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Blyskavky will play against the league's second-placed Dnipro (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
