Regular Season Round 25: Chemnitz - Bonn 79-81

Eleventh-ranked Chemnitz (10-14) gave a tough game to second ranked Telekom Baskets (20-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Bonn managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Telekom Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Chemnitz's 28. American-North Macedonian point guard TJ Shorts (175-1997, college: UC Davis) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 assists for the winners and naturalized Chilean Sebastian Herrera (193-1997) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Telekom Baskets' coach Tuomas Iisalo used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard Wes Clark (184-1994, college: Buffalo) responded with 16 points and the other American import forward Malik Osborne (206-1998, college: FSU) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-2 record having 2 victories less than leader ALBA. Chemnitz lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Telekom Baskets are looking forward to face Hamburg Towers (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chemnitz will play against Seawolves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
