Second Stage Round 6: Barreirense - Sampaense 90-87

There was a small surprise in Barreiro where seventh ranked Barreirense (2-4) edged 5th ranked Sampaense (2-4) 90-87 on Sunday. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Micah Downs (203-1986, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Marquavian Stephens (190, college: Saskatchewan) chipped in 28 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Tre Bowman (196-1991, college: Iona) with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Dajion Henderson (203-1996, college: LeMoyne-Owen) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Five Sampaense players scored in double figures. Barreirense moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sampaense and Olhanense. Sampaense lost third consecutive game. Barreirense will meet league's second-placed Maia Basket on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sampaense will play against Belenenses and hope to secure a win.
