Regular Season Round 21: Panevezio - Birzu 100-79

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Birzu (4-16) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Panevezio (11-10) 100-79 on Sunday. Birzu was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Panevezio dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Birzu's 52. Panevezio forced 28 Birzu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Guard Nikas Stuknys (194-2005) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Arnas Strikulys (188-2005) chipped in 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was swingman Danielius Mulevicius (195-2006) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Dovydas Kacinskas (185-2005) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panevezio maintains seventh place with 11-10 record. Loser Birzu keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Plunges. Panevezio will meet Marijampoles (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Birzu will play against the league's second-placed SKM I where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
