Second Stage Round 9: Triglav - Celje 52-98

Very significant was Celje's (#1, 8-0) victory against second-best Triglav (6-3) 98-52. The game without a history. Celje led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 25 Triglav turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Celje looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Australian Taylah Simmons (185-1997, college: Southeastern) stepped up and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American Sara Loomis (188-1997, college: Ashland) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Celje players scored in double figures. Celje's coach Damir Grgic felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Rebeka Abramovic (172-1993) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and center Lara Bubnic (190-1999) scored 10 points. Celje (8-0) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Triglav at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Celje are looking forward to face Maribor (#5) at home in the next round. Triglav will play against Konjice and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
