There was no surprise in Plovdiv where 10th ranked Cherno More (6-17) was defeated by eighth ranked Akademik P. (8-16) 92-85 on Wednesday. Akademik P. forced 22 Cherno More turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jaylen Minnett (185-1999, college: Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and the former international Vasil Bachev (195-1992, college: Cuesta JC) who added 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. Akademik P.'s coach Jordan Yankov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American Thatch Unruh (196-1994, college: Cent Arkansas, agency: BIG) with 26 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Martin Jordanov (207-2002, agency: BIG) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akademik P. maintains eighth position with 8-16 record. Loser Cherno More keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. Akademik P. will meet at home bottom-ranked Shumen (#11) in the next round. Cherno More will play against the league's leader Rilski where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
