Second Stage Round 7: UBSC Graz - Furstenfeld 101-77

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (8-21) were crushed on the road by seventh ranked UBSC Graz (16-13) 101-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by UBSC Graz. Furstenfeld Panthers managed to win third quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UBSC Graz dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Furstenfeld Panthers' 38. It was a great shooting night for UBSC Graz especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Issac Vann (198-1995, college: VCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Zach Cooks (175, college: Hofstra) helped adding 22 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Four UBSC Graz players scored in double figures. UBSC Graz's coach Ervin Dragsic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Bosnian guard Adnan Hajder (193-1992) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Steve Jr Robinson (165-1996, college: Mt.St.Mary's) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. UBSC Graz maintains seventh place with 16-13 record. Newly promoted Furstenfeld Panthers keep the tenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Timberwolves. UBSC Graz will meet Arkadia Lions (#9) in the next round. Furstenfeld Panthers will play against Timberwolves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
