Second Stage Round 9: Bucuresti E. - Gheorgheni 65-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with thirteenth ranked Gheorgheni's (3-3) road victory over bottom-ranked Bucuresti E. (1-8) 89-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gheorgheni. Bucuresti E. managed to win fourth quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gheorgheni dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Bucuresti E.'s 18. Gheorgheni forced 23 Bucuresti E. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Tamas Bodo who scored 43 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Victor Vilcinschi (-2000) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and Dimitris Petzalis (-1995) added 17 points respectively. Bucuresti E.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gheorgheni moved-up to twelfth place. Bucuresti E. lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Gheorgheni will meet higher ranked Oradea 2 (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bucuresti E. will play against Oradea 2 and hope to win that game.
