Regular Season Round 22: Birzu - SKM I 99-107 OT

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Birzu (4-18) lost to third ranked SKM I (18-4) in Birzai 99-107 on Monday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 32-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-9. SKM I outrebounded Birzu 50-34 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Forward Ernestas Matulevic (200-2005) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Kristupas Civilis (-2005) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. SKM I's coach Ignas Pagalys allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by guard Dovydas Kacinskas (185-2005) did not help to save the game for Birzu. Swingman Danielius Mulevicius (195-2006) added 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Five SKM I and four Birzu players scored in double figures. SKM I keeps a position of league leader, which they share with VKKM. Birzu lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Perkunas.
