Second Stage Round 8: Eisenstadt - Kapfenberg 55-93
Date: April 5, 2023
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (15-15) crushed bottom-ranked Nord Dragonz (7-23) in Eisenstadt 93-55 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Kapfenberg Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Nord Dragonz's 22 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Kapfenberg Bulls forced 20 Nord Dragonz turnovers and outrebounded them 46-25 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Lesley Varner Jr (201-1998, college: UTRGV) who scored that evening 28 points and 5 rebounds and British guard Amin Adamu (196-1997, college: Montana St.) supported him with 27 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Kapfenberg Bulls players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Nick Allen (203-1997, college: UTSA) did not help to save the game for Nord Dragonz. Croatian point guard Petar Cosic (183-1985, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 15-15 record. Newly promoted Nord Dragonz stay dead last with 23 lost games. Kapfenberg Bulls will meet Timberwolves (#10) in the next round. Nord Dragonz will play against UBSC Graz and hope to secure a win.
