Second Stage Round 8: St.Poelten - Gmunden 82-83

Fifth-ranked UBC St. Poelten (14-16) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Gmunden Swans (25-5) in St.Poelten. The visitors from Gmunden managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected easier game. UBC St. Poelten was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 25-22 charge of Gmunden Swans, which allowed them to win the game. They made 28-of-32 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while UBC St. Poelten only scored twelve points from the stripe. UBC St. Poelten was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Urald King (198-1990, college: SE Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and British-French guard Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye (193-1996, college: Bradley) who added 16 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Iranian-German point guard Philip Jalalpoor (188-1993, college: UBC, agency: Blacktop Management) responded with 21 points and American guard Kelvin Lewis (195-1988, college: Houston) scored 18 points. Gmunden Swans maintains second position with 25-5 record having just eight point less than leader Vienna. UBC St. Poelten at the other side keeps the fifth place with 16 games lost. Gmunden Swans will play against Dukes (#6) in Klosterneuburg in the next round. UBC St. Poelten will play on the road against the league's leader BC Vienna and hopes to get back on the winning track.
