An interesting game for Telekom Baskets (24-2) which played road game in Oldenburg against 4th placed EWE Baskets (16-10). Second ranked Telekom Baskets managed to get a 11-point victory 87-76. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by EWE Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-North Macedonian point guard TJ Shorts (175-1997, college: UC Davis) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 8 assists. American guard Javontae Hawkins (196-1993, college: Fordham) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. American Trey Drechsel (198-1996, college: GCU) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import TJ Holyfield (203-1995, college: Texas Tech) added 13 points in the effort for EWE Baskets. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Telekom Baskets have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain second place with 24-2 record behind leader ALBA. EWE Baskets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Telekom Baskets are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bayreuth (#18) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. EWE Baskets will play against Chemnitz (#11) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
