There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Brose Bamberg (13-15) lost on the road to twelfth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (11-16) 109-100 on Sunday. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Eric Washington (183-1993, college: Miami, OH) who led the winners and scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Maximilian Ugrai (201-1995) accounted for 25 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winning side. American guard Patrick Miller (185-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: Slash Sports) came up with 19 points and 7 assists and Czech Jaromir Bohacik (198-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Brose Bamberg in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for MLP Academics Heidelberg. They maintain twelfth place with 11-16 record. Brose Bamberg lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet at home higher ranked Seawolves (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brose Bamberg will play against Bayern Muenchen where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
