The game between third ranked Gunners Oberwart (18-13) and fourth ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (18-13) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Gunners Oberwart was crushed by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels in Wels 84-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gunners Oberwart. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels. Gunners Oberwart managed to win fourth quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gunners Oberwart's 32. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels forced 20 Gunners Oberwart turnovers. American-Nigerian guard Austen Awosika (190-1998, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Donovan Smith (207-1993, college: Quinnipiac) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels' coach Sebastian Waser felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Brock Gardner (201-1997, college: Master's, agency: Players Group) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Jack Rauch (201-1997, college: FSC) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Raiffeisen Flyers Wels and four Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels moved-up to third place, which they share with Oberwart and UBSC Graz. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels is looking forward to face UBC St. Poelten (#5) in St.Poelten in the next round. Gunners Oberwart will play at home against Dukes and is hoping to win this game.
